Vocal Arts Symposium - vocal training and career guidance; July and August at Colorado College; a diverse staff of ten directed by Martile Rowland

Rocky Mountain Region of the Metropolitan Opera National Council - annual auditions for young singers, beginning with auditions in the Colorado-Wyoming district or the Utah District

Denver Lyric Opera Guild - offers an annual competition for Colorado Singers, awards scholarships to voice students in colleges and universities in Colorado, and provides continuing education of members in the appreciation and knowledge of opera

National Center for Voice and Speech: located in Denver, an inter-disciplinary, multi-site team investigating voice and speech; see their recommendations on voice warm-up and programs for singers

Colorado and Wyoming Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing - a listing of NATS teachers in the two states and audition guidelines

The National Association of Teachers of Singing- an association of teachers of singing, with over 5,000 members; encourages the highest standards of singing through excellence in teaching and the promotion of vocal education and research



Opera Works - under the guidance of Ann Baltz, Founder and Executive Director, a performance training program that has achieved national recognition and distinction; while OperaWorks' main focus is educational, performances are a vital part of OperaWorks' programs, and include recitals, showcase concerts, improvised operas and full productions

Richard Tucker Music Foundation - website provides a list of resources for young and developing artists; the foundation bestows cash grants to American-born opera singers

Marilyn Horne Foundation - supports, encourages and preserves the art of vocal recital through presentations and educational activities

Center for Contemporary Opera - dedicated to the creation and performance of contemporary American opera and opera in English; sponsors International Opera Singers Competition with no age limit

Classical Singer - membership required to access most features; a magazine, several directories, forums, store, classified ads and more; worth a look by the serious singer

Opera News - a publication of the Metropolitan Opera Guild; the essential magazine for opera professionals and opera buffs alike; costing only $22 per year, it is a super-bargain

Opera America - provides a variety of informational, technical, and administrative resources to the greater opera community; its fundamental mission is to promote opera as exciting and accessible to individuals from all walks of life; membership includes 169 Company Members around the world, plus over 290 Affiliate and Business Members, and 2,000 Individual Members from 48 US states, 7 Canadian provinces, and 19 countries abroad, representing Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa, North America, and South America
